European Commission Passes “Gig Economy” Platform Labor Rules

Council of Europe Approves New European Copyright Rules

Key Insight – In the final phase of the European Union legislative process, the Council of Europe, the collection of national governments, approved new copyright rules intended to increase the ability of content creators, such as writers and artists, to receive protection and financial renumeration from large Internet platforms that host large amounts of user-generated and user-posted digital content.  The national governments are now required to enact implanting legislation by 2021 consistent with the directive.
